I bought a 55 gallon tank from my boss late November of 2001.
I decided
to go with a reef tank because that's what my wife really wanted.
After
spending too much on live rocks, we decided that a hybrid reef/fish
tank would
do just fine! Click on the picture below for a slideshow!

The filter in just a 4 inch corrugated pvc pipe with one gallon of bioballs held in by plastic screen (yes, from your window). The overflow drains by gravity via 3/4 inch pvc pipe to the filter, and is pump up using a Mag Pump 1200. I've estimated that the pump pushes about 200-300 gallon per hour (give me a break, i haven't found a free flow meter yet!). The pop bottle in the filter is just used to hold up a bag for carbon.
